5-Day Tour from Casablanca to Merzouga Desert

Day 1 – Casablanca → Boulajoul (Near Midelt)

Your Casablanca to Sahara Desert Tour begins early with a scenic drive through Kasbat Tadla and Zaouiat Cheikh, where the plains slowly rise into the foothills of the Middle Atlas Mountains. The journey offers panoramic views of cedar forests, valleys, and authentic Berber hamlets — an introduction to Morocco’s stunning contrasts.

Arrive in the peaceful village of Boulajoul, near Midelt, by late afternoon. Enjoy a warm Moroccan dinner prepared with local ingredients and rest in a cozy mountain guesthouse. This tranquil stop marks the perfect start to your 5-day Morocco desert itinerary, setting the tone for the days of exploration ahead.

Day 2 – Boulajoul → Merzouga (Sahara Desert)

After breakfast, the journey continues through Midelt, Errachidia, and the breathtaking Ziz Valley, a lush stretch of palm groves framed by dramatic canyon walls. Stop in Erfoud, famous for its fossils and desert craftsmanship, before heading toward the mesmerizing dunes of Merzouga.

Upon arrival, your camel trek in Merzouga awaits. Ride across the glowing sands of Erg Chebbi as the sun sets over the horizon. In the evening, enjoy a traditional dinner, live Berber music, and sandboarding at your desert camp. Spend the night in a comfortable Berber tent beneath a glittering sky — the heart of your Morocco Sahara Desert experience.

Day 3 – Merzouga Desert – Full-Day Exploration

Wake up early to witness the spectacular sunrise over the dunes — an iconic highlight of your Sahara Desert Morocco Tour. After breakfast, spend the day discovering the desert’s hidden gems: visit Khamlia village to experience Gnaoua music, meet nomadic families, and explore desert lakes and oases surrounded by palm trees and wildlife.

Optional activities include sandboarding, a 4×4 off-road adventure, or simply relaxing among the dunes. Return to camp in the evening for tea, storytelling, and dinner by the fire. Sleep under a canopy of stars — an unforgettable night in your Casablanca to Merzouga Desert Trip.

Day 4 – Merzouga → Dades Valley

After breakfast, say farewell to the desert and travel through Rissani, a historic trading town that once linked caravans to Timbuktu. Visit a Berber clothing cooperative to take memorable photos and see local craftsmanship in action. Continue toward the majestic Todra Gorges, where towering limestone cliffs rise hundreds of meters above the riverbed.

By afternoon, reach the stunning Dades Valley, known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” The dramatic rock formations, known as “Monkey Fingers,” make this one of Morocco’s most photographed landscapes. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at a charming hotel with spectacular valley views.

Day 5 – Dades Valley → Marrakech

After breakfast, journey along the legendary Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing through the lush Skoura Oasis and the fragrant Rose Valley. Stop at a women’s Argan Oil Cooperative to learn how this traditional product is made. Then, explore the world-famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and backdrop to movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi n’Tichka Pass, pausing for scenic photo opportunities along the way. Arrive in Marrakech by evening, where your 5-Day Morocco Sahara Tour concludes — a journey filled with beauty, culture, and unforgettable experiences.

We reserved a two-day, one-night excursion to Zagora. Our driver was fantastic! He was quite kind and helpful. The minivan was fantastic, and the desert camp was fantastic! The guide in Ait Ben Haddou's Kasbah was very pleasant. The berbers at the camp were quite kind, and the cuisine was delicious. breakfast and supper Everything was beautiful, even the music playing next to the fire. and had a camel ride at dawn and sunset. Prepare some money to tip everyone. It had all been worthwhile! This business comes highly recommended by me.

We planned a four-day trip and were fortunate enough to have Omar as our guide and driver. With two full days in the desert and another two days travelling through the Atlas Mountains and Ouazarzate, the tour was fantastic. Omar was a fantastic tour guide who was both patient and professional. I couldn't have asked for anything more and would strongly suggest this firm to anybody interested in seeing the real Sahara desert!
