4 Day Marrakech Desert Trip

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Ouarzazate

After breakfast, our driver will pick you up in Marrakech. From there, you’ll begin a four-day excursion from Marrakech to Merzouga. We’ll travel the Tizi-N-Tichka mountain road, which reaches an altitude of 2,260 meters, the highest pass in Morocco. We’ll stop to admire the landscape and traditional Berber villages. Our next stop will be the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a famous UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll have the opportunity to visit this famous site, used as a filming location for films and series such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. We’ll then continue to Ouarzazate, known as “the gateway to the desert” and renowned for Atlas Studios, where many films are shot. Dinner and overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Alnif – Rissani – Merzouga

After breakfast, we’ll depart Ouarzazate for the Merzouga desert. We’ll cross the Draa Valley, where you can admire one of Morocco’s longest rivers. We’ll stop in Nakoub for a local lunch. Along the way, you’ll enjoy mountain views, Berber villages, and the palm trees that characterize the landscape. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Merzouga, where we’ll change modes of transport for an unforgettable camel trek through the Erg Chebbi dunes. Along the way, you’ll admire a magnificent desert sunset. The evening will continue with a traditional dinner, local music, and stargazing. Overnight in a desert camp.

Day 3: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

The day will begin early to witness the sunrise over the sand dunes. After returning to your hotel in Merzouga, you’ll have breakfast and take a shower to freshen up. We’ll then continue to Rissani, where you’ll visit the weekly market. Next, we’ll pass through Erfoud, where we’ll visit a fossil factory, and then on to Touroug, where we’ll take photos among the palm trees and stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll reach the Todra Gorges, one of the most spectacular sites in the High Atlas, famous for its towering rock faces and the river that flows through the canyon. In the evening, we’ll continue to the Dades Valley, where we’ll have dinner and spend the night.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

The final day begins with a breathtaking view of the Dades Valley. We’ll then continue through other villages and kasbahs along the way. We’ll stop in the Valley of Roses and among the palm trees of Skoura. Next, we’ll visit the Kasbah of Taourirt in Ouarzazate, the former home of the Glaoui family. From there, we’ll return to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou for a short visit or to take photos, depending on your preference. Finally, we’ll cross the Tizi-N-Tichka pass again and return to Marrakech in the afternoon, where your 4-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga will end.

Aziz and Ali Barro took us on a four-day trip from Marrakech to Merzouga, an incredible experience. They are both knowledgeable, knowledgeable, and kind, which made our vacation enjoyable and hassle-free. We're so glad we chose the four-day trip instead of the shorter three-day excursion. We had a wonderful time in Morocco and highly recommend the tour.

Our four-day trip from Marrakech to the Merzouga desert and back was fantastic! Omar was the perfect tour guide; he was extremely knowledgeable and able to answer even the strangest questions we asked. There were four of us in total—two couples—and we opted for the most expensive package. We stayed in private tents with private bathrooms (with showers!) in the desert, which was truly a pleasure! This tour was the highlight of our trip to Morocco, and I'll be telling everyone I know about it!
